Angela Brommel



is a Nevada writer with Iowa roots. She holds an MA in Theatre from the University of Northern Iowa, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles.Her poetry has appeared in Vapid Kitten, Sweet: A Literary Confection, The Citron Review and is forthcoming in The North American Review. She currently teaches Humanities and Women’s Studies at Nevada State College.

Without a Telephone Booth

" When I studied acting I was in love with writing, and when I studied writing I was in love with film. One day while I was in a seminar on translation I began embedding poems with references to some of my favorite classic films as a way to retell the stories from the gaze of the heroine. For me, writing this way is closer to the acts of designing and directing. "
