Rick Mullin


is a journalist and painter whose poetry has appeared in several print and online journals including Measure, Unsplendid, American Arts Quarterly, Ep;phany and The Flea. His chapbook, Aquinas Flinched, was published by Exot Books in New York. His booklength poem, Huncke, was published this year by Seven Towers, Dublin. He is currently working on a long poem on the life of the painter Chaim Soutine. Rick lives in northern New Jersey.



This poem, or the first line of it, emerged from fireplace ashes the morning after. It prefigures the beard I bore through the fall of 2010.
